International Conference on Steelpan 

The International Conference on Steelpan is held every two years and brings together people who are directly or indirectly involved in the many aspects of steelpan culture. 

Attendees have the opportunity to discuss steelpan issues, take part in workshops, attend presentations and create the vital links that are needed to support the further development in pan.

The first conference was held at the University of East London, Docklands Campus between 30 and 31 August 2006. This conference was entitled 'Steelband Music and Education in the 21st Century'.

In 2008 the conference was held at the Accolade Centre, York University and the Kofler Centre, University of Toronto between 31st July and 3rd August, 2008. This conference was entitled 'Carnival, A People's Art, and Taking Back the Streets'.

In 2010 the conference was held at University of East London, Stratford Campus between 23 and 24 October 2010. This conference was entitled 'Steelpan, Calypso and Mas'.

In 2012 the conference was held at various venues between 26 and 28 October 2012:

  • Central Park, Lily’s Walk, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
  • University of East London, Stratford Campus
  • Carnival Village, The Yaa Centre, 1 Chippenham Mews, London

This conference was dedicated to the late Crystal Holder, one of the founding members of the CSI Steelband.
