panKAT

The panKAT is a type of electronic steelpan.

The first prototype was introduced in 2006 at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention held at the Austin Convention Centre, Austin Texas.

The panKAT is basically a MIDI controller that consists of 30 pads configured to the low tenor fourths and fifths layout.

It can be played with either sticks or fingers.

In 2007, the panKAT found itself on British shores and was being used by some accomplished pannists.
