• George 'Sonny' Goddard's book 'Forty Years in the Steelbands' was published by Karia Press, London (owned by the late Trinidadian Norris 'Buzz' Johnson)
• Real Steel (Plymouth) was formed

• The steelpan was declared the National Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago
• Harrow School's Steel Orchestra (London) performed at the Schools Prom (Royal Albert Hall)
• Comets Steelband (London) was formed

1993

• Pan Trinbago's first newsletter
• The North West Steelband Association was formed
• Trinidad and Tobago Instruments Ltd was formed
• Ebony became the first steelband to win Panorama for three successive years
• Waltham Forest Steel (London) was formed

1994

• The syllabus for graded examinations in solo steelpan was developed in Trinidad
• Metronomes Steel Orchestra performed at the opening of the Channel Tunnel
• Pantonic All Stars Steel Band (Stockport) performed at the Schools Proms (Royal Albert Hall)
• Panache Steelband (Gloucestershire) was formed

• The British Association of Steelbands (BAS) was formed
• Graded examinations in solo steelpan were held for the first time
• Pantonic All Stars Steel Band (Stockport) and Littleover Community School, Pantastics Steelband (Derbyshire) performed at the Schools Proms (Royal Albert Hall)
• Pantasia Steel Orchestra (London) was formed

• Panorama results were recorded on the internet for the first time
• Waltham Forest Steel (London) and Crown Hills Steel Band (Leicester) performed at the Schools Prom (Royal Albert Hall)

• Carnival began in Balham, Briston and Tottenham
• Amoco Renegades was the first and only steelband to achieve a Panorama hat-trick of wins
• Arthur France was awarded an M.B.E.
