Lennox Mohammed

Lennox "Bobby" Mohammed was born in 1943 and grew up in San Fernando. He was a founder member of the Gondoliers Steelband.

After the Gondoliers disbanded, Lennox founded The Cavaliers, in 1961, soon to be known as the Guinness Cavaliers.

1964 and 1966, the Guinness Cavaliers achieved second place at Panorama. However, they did win the ultimate prize in 1965 and 1967. Their wins were astonishing and were instrumental in creating the large band format.

Lennox Mohammed went to Venezuela in 1968 to promote the steelpan. This led him to travel further afield, touring North America and Europe, and consequently ends his partnership with Guinness Cavaliers.

Since then Lennox has not been at the forefront of pan, but plays an active role in its development.
