Which Pan to Play?

If you are thinking of joining a band, you will have the opportunity to try all of the instruments in the pan family. The tutor will advise you on which pan is best for you after accessing your ability on the different pans.

The most popular pan is the tenor as the melody is played on this pan. It is also popular because it is a single drum, which makes it easier to transport and to store.

However, if you try playing all of the pans you may find that you are more suited to playing one of the middle or background pans. (Consider your physical restrictions: the bass pans may be too large for a small person, and similarly the quadrophonics or cellos).
